MEL(V.4/5)
Selection from The Meltypes
For The Meltypes, I start with one photograph of myself, printed with slightly different colorations. I use abrasives to remove part of the image and/or adhesives to add parts of other printed versions of that same photograph. The piece is then dipped in encaustic.
If I am indeed in a constant state of change, this continual fluctuation should make infinite variation possible from this limited set of variables. Every time I think I’ve reached the end of possibilities for this set of limitations, the passage of time presents me with new solutions– evidence of a continually shifting set of self-identifiers. |
